Venue information

Another venue for the 2001 Confederations Cup, Big Swan is a two-tiered stadium with a partial, translucent Teflon film roof designed to evoke the image of a swan's wings. A nearby lake is the wintering ground for thousands of swans. On the west coast of Honshu island, Niigata is a western port city. Its surrounding villages produce the nation's most highly prized rice crop.

The stadium, home to second division J-League club Albirex Niigata, is located 4 kilometers from the city center. It will host first-round matchups Ireland-Cameroon and Croatia-Mexico, and a match in the round of 16.
