Venue information

Sapporo is the cultural and economic center of Hokkaido, the northernmost of Japan's main islands. The city played host to the 1972 Winter Olympics. The high-tech Dome features a mobile natural turf field that sits on wheels and a special air-pressure cushion and can be installed in hours.

When the pitch is moved outside, the Dome is a regular stop for corporate conventions and professional baseball clubs. The venue was one of the sites for the three-nation Kirin Cup in July 2001. Sapporo Dome is located 8 kilometers (5 miles) from the city center.
