BONN (Reuters) -- Germany's
soccer federation chief said on Sunday he was considering setting up a
panel of experts to help Berti Vogts rebuild the national team.
German Soccer Federation president Egidius Braun told the Welt am
Sonntag newspaper former internationals such as Guenter Netzer could be
part of the advisory group. "I don't want to name any names -- but
I could certainly imagine Guenter Netzer being involved," Braun said.
Netzer, the former Borussia Moenchengladbach playmaker, has earned
widespread respect in Germany for his television commentary at the World
Cup. Vogts faces a major rebuilding task following Germany's 3-0
defeat to Croatia in the
World Cup quarterfinals. The coach, who has resisted calls for his
resignation, has to find replacements for players such as Juergen
Klinsmann, Juergen Kohler and Lothar Matthaeus who retired from the
international game after the Croatia match.
