Awesome goalkeeper known for his brilliant saves, giant throw outs and a habit of shouting at his team mates. Joined Manchester United from Danish club Brondby in 1991, and has since won four English titles. Brilliant saves helped Denmark win the 1992 European Championship in Sweden. Only concern is recent crop of injuries.
 
Mogens Krogh (Brondby), 34, 7 caps.
Replaced Schmeichel at Brondby in 1991, made his Denmark debut against Turkey in 1992. Not in Schmeichel class, but a reliable deputy.
 
Peter Kjaer (Silkeborg), 32, 0 caps.
Played for a Danish league XI at the King's Cup in Thailand in January. Won the Danish title with Silkeborg in 1994.

Hardworking, aggressive player who made debut for Denmark against France in November 1996. Played in crucial 0-0 draw with Greece in Athens which clinched Denmark's qualification for the finals.

Superb sweeper who converted from an attacking midfielder. Loyal servant to AAB Aalborg and Brondby before moving to Turkey.
 
Jacob Laursen (Derby, England), 26, 21 caps.
Rugged, versatile defender capable of filling variety of roles. Former youth international. After playing for Danish clubs Vejle and Silkeborg he moved to England following Euro 96.
 
Marc Rieper (Celtic, Scotland), 29 (30 on June 5), 51 caps.
The cornerstone of Denmark's defense. Scored his first goal for the national team in his 47th international, a World Cup qualifier against Bosnia last June. Tall, hard-tackling defender in the British mould, not very quick but solid and good in the air. Transferred to Celtic from West Ham in the autumn of 1997 for 1.5 million pounds ($2.5 million) .
 
Jan Heintze (Bayer Leverkusen, Germany), 34, 37 caps.
Talented left wing-back, made fine comeback in Denmark's 1-0 victory over France in friendly in Copenhagen November 1996 after a long absence from national team.
 
Michael Schjoenberg (Kaiserslautern, Germany), 31, 26 caps.
hysically powerful, attacking left wing-back who scorers plenty of goals. Played in Hanover's German Cup winning team in 1992. Returned to Denmark to play with distinction for Odense for two seasons before moving back to the Bundesliga again in 1996.
 
Thomas Graversen (Hamburg SV, Germany), 22, 0 caps.
Uncapped but technically impressive young libero. Uncompromising, self-confident and ruthless. Quit Danish club Vejle last autumn for Hamburg.

Left Danish club Odense for Italy in 1993. Tireless right-back, regular member of national team since making debut against Hungary in 1994. Good both as a marker and going forward.
 
Bjarne Goldbaek (FC Copenhagen), 29, 11 caps.
Solid performer with long, distinguished career in Germany, notably with Schalke 04, Kaiserslautern and Cologne.
 
Morten Wieghorst (Celtic, Scotland), 27, 9 caps.
Tall player (1.92 meters) who made debut with national team against Finland in 1994 but has rarely featured since. Impressed Scots when playing for Danish club Lyngby against Rangers in a European Cup club encounter. Signed by Dundee, then moved to Celtic in 1995-96 season.
 
Per Frandsen (Bolton, England), 28, 10 caps.
Made international debut in 1990 but then lost his place following a move to French club Lille. Re-established himself in 1996 after switch to England.
 
Allan Nielsen (Tottenham, England), 27, 16 caps.
usy midfield workhorse who achieved his breakthrough after Euro '96 under new national coach Bo Johansson. Trained as a youngster with Bayern Munich, played for Danish clubs Odense, FC Copenhagen and Brondby before moving to London, where injuries have disrupted his progress.
 
Martin Joergensen (Udinese, Italy), 22, 2 caps.
Former captain of Danish under-21 team with record number of youth caps. New to the national squad, prefers left wing-back position. Left AGF Aarhus last summer for Udinese, where he has flourished.
 
Michael Laudrup (Ajax Amsterdam, Netherlands), 33 (34 on June 15), 97 caps.
Captain and talented ballplayer recognized as world class. Prefers left side of midfield, pushing forward into a striking role. Moved to Real Madrid from Barcelona in 1994. Last year he joined Ajax Amsterdam after spell in Japan with Vissel Kobe. Is the only survivor from Denmark's 1986 World Cup squad.
 
Ole Bjur (Brondby), 29, 3 caps.
Scored on debut in Denmark's 1-0 victory over Sweden in a friendly in 1996. Converted from striker to right-sided midfielder. Quick.
 
Peter Nielsen (FC Copenhagen), 29 (30 on June 3), 6 caps.
Member of victorious 1992 European Championship squad. Played five seasons for Germany's Borussia Moenchengladbach before transferring to FC Copenhagen last summer. Has had bad run of injuries, but should be fit for France.

Prolific goalscorer with Dutch side Heerenveen, scoring 18 goals during his final season there before moving to Newcastle United for 2.5 million pounds ($4.1 million) in 1997. Has struggled to make an impact in English soccer.
 
Brian Laudrup (Rangers, Scotland), 29, 75 caps.
Younger brother of Michael, can play as striker or attacking midfielder. Exciting dribbling skills have made him one of the outstanding figures in the Danish team. Due to join London club Chelsea in July after happy four years with Rangers where he was voted player of the year. Played previously for Italy's Fiorentina, AC Milan and Germany's Uerdingen and Bayern Munich and was a member of the 1992 European Championship squad.
 
Mikkel Beck (Middlesbrough, England), 24 (25 on May 12), 14 caps.
Fiery, goal-hungry center forward, who moved to England from FC Cologne after Euro '96. Promoted from Danish under-21 team to national side in 1995. Has been inconsistent this season.
 
Miklos Molnar (Sevilla, Spain), 28, 8 caps.
Dynamic, aggressive striker. Frequent goalscorer for Belgian side Standard Liege, French club St. Etienne and Servette in Switzerland. Top scorer in Danish top flight with Lyngby in 1997, notching 26 goals before moving to Spain.
 
Peter Moeller (PSV Eindhoven, Netherlands), 26, 10 caps.
Scored 22 goals in 1997 for Copenhagen club Brondby where he spent two years after a spell in Switzerland. Moved to PSV in August 1997.
 
Ebbe Sand (Brondby), 25, 1 cap.
Scored a bunch of goals this season for Brondby, including a spell of 18 in eight games to earn call-up. Lightning fast.
