Good in the air but sometimes lacks confidence. Gained instant stardom after scoring the winner in the victory over Japan in Tokyo last September.

Experienced left-sided player who is famous for his free-kick prowess. Played in all three games at USA 94 and at the Atlanta Olympics two years later.

Called 'Mozart' for his ability to orchestrate the play with his silky passes and movement. Was a key member of the Olympic side in Atlanta.
 
KO Jong-soo (Suwon Samsung) 19, 19 caps
Made his international debut at 18, a national record. Has excellent dribbling skills and likes to play on the left. Lacks experience but could be one to watch in France, if coach Cha Bum-kun gives him his chance. Suffered a serious knee-injury in July 1997.

Played in the 1993 world Youth Cup. Operates best as a defensive midfielder.

A favourite of coach Cha and is one of the more reliable players in the centre of the midfield. Can venture forward effectively and should start in France.

Is the only South Korean player to have scored against the Brazilian national team. Better-known for his physique than his technique.
 
PARK Nam-yol (Sangmoo) 28, 20 caps
Left-sided player who makes too many mistakes for his own liking. Was a major disappointment in the Dynasty Cup matches in Japan earlier this year.

Nicknamed 'speedy' for his ability to break through defences at pace. Grabbed a dramatic late equaliser against Spain at USA 94. Highly talented, he should start.
 
HWANG Sun-hong (Pohang Steelers) 29, 75 caps
Prolific scorer who has over 40 goals for the national team. Tends to play better in front of his own fans than away from home. Getting on now and has been hampered by injuries but his aerial strength remains a threat for opposing teams.
 
PARK Kun-ha (Suwon Samsung) 26, 20 caps
A likely substitute who finishes well. Was a regular scorer at amateur level.

South Korea's rising star who was top-scorer in qualifying. Should partner Hwang up front.
 
KOH Jong-woon (Cerezo Osaka, Japan) 32, 76 caps
Dubbed 'the locomotive' for his stamina and speed up and down the flank. Has great experience but may have passed his peak.
