MILAN, Italy (AP) -- Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert has turned down an offer from Manchester United to remain with AC Milan, the Italian soccer club reported Monday.

The 22-year-old forward reached his decision during a meeting in Amsterdam with his agent and Milan's director-general, Ariedo Bradia.

Manchester United chairman Martin Edwards said Thursday that Milan had accepted an offer, worth a reported 9 million pounds ($14.8 million), for the the Dutchman, who starred for his country during the World Cup in France.

Kluivert's contract with Milan, linking him to the club through June 30, 2001, remains unchanged, the team said.

He reportedly received a small increase in his compensation.
