GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) -- Rangers have no interest in selling Dutch midfielder Giovanni van Bronckhorst, note even at a price of almost $10 million.
The 24-year-old, being sought by Atletico de Madrid coach Claudio Ranieri, has attracted interest across Europe but Rangers chairman David Murray has no plans to sell.
"We are not interested in selling Giovanni," said Murray, who said he received a 6-million-pound (US$9.6 million) offer from an unnamed agent.
"We are building a team here, not breaking one up. Other clubs, no matter who they are, must realize this."
Van Bronckhorst, who is preparing for Monday's Old Frim match at Celtic Park, said he was "flattered" but focusing on the next match.
"It's a good sign when the chairman says that because I must be doing well for the club and it's nice to hear that," he said.
"But I'm not too bothered about hearing transfer speculation because it's not the first time I've been linked with other clubs. I want to concentrate on other things and not think about it. It's better that I focus on Monday's game with Celtic."
