FINAL INSPECTION BEFORE NATIONS CUP
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will visit Ghana and Nigeria early next month for a final look at stadium and television facilities ahead of the African Nations Cup finals. The late inspection follows complaints from several broadcasters last month over the state of preparations for filming the 16-team competition. CAF will send an inspection team of organising committee members and television rights holders before the tournament begins on 22 January.
BORDEAUX SIGN PARTIZAN'S TOMIC

Club officials said at the start of the winter break they were prepared to let their best players go for the right money. Forward Mateja Kezman could be next to leave _ Lazio are said to have offered $25 million for his services.

BECKHAM DOUBTFUL FOR SUNDERLAND CLASH
Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson has admitted midfielder David Beckham could miss Tuesday's game at Sunderland because of a hamstring injury. Ferguson still hopes Beckham, who missed Sunday's 4-0 win over Bradford, will make the trip, but said: 'We will have to wait and see. His hamstring is a bit tight and we have to be careful.' However Ferguson is more optimistic that Ryan Giggs will be back in action after shaking off the flu which ruled him out of Sunday's game.
MAGATH NAMED EINTRACHT FRANKFURT COACH
Former German international Felix Magath has been installed as coach of Eintracht Frankfurt, currently second-from-bottom of the Bundesliga. Eintracht sacked supremo Joerg Berger on 19 December after a string of six successive defeats left them with just 11 points from 17 games at the start of the winter break. The 46-year-old Magath, whose contract runs to the end of the season, resigned as coach at Werder Bremen last May after home defeat by Eintracht.
