(CNN text) -- Argentine defender Eduardo Berizzo is poised to return to former club River Plate from Olympique Marseille, sources at the French club have said. Berizzo, signed at the start of the season to replace Laurent Blanc, is the latest high-earning international told he can leave as Marseille attempt to balance their books.

  • Former French striker Nicolas Ouedec, who wants to leave Montpellier, will have trials with Scottish Premier club Celtic next week.

    THATCHER ELBOWED FROM KEEGAN'S PLANS

England coach Kevin Keegan says Wimbledon defender Ben Thatcher ruined his immediate international hopes by elbowing Nicky Summerbee in the face. 'Until last week, Thatcher was someone we were looking at,' said Keegan. 'I thought there is one who probably would be in the next squad, and probably will not now.' The uncapped full-back has been suspended for two games following his challenge on Sunderland's Summerbee.

WESTERHOF TO TAKE OVER AT WILLEM II

Hans Westerhof has been appointed coach of Dutch Premier Division club Willem II Tilburg, but will not take up his duties until 1 July. The 51-year-old, who has been the training director of Dutch rivals Ajax Amsterdam since 1997, replaces Co Adriaanse who will leave Willem II at the end of the season. Former coach of PSV Eindhoven and FC Groningen, Westerhof has signed a two-year deal with the Tilburg team, who are eighth in the table.

    ZOLA UNHAPPY WITH CHELSEA TREATMENT

Gianfranco Zola says his recent treatment at Chelsea has left him feeling worse than he did when he quit Parma for the English club in 1996. The 33-year-old Italian striker has played only 12 full games this season, and was left out of the squad for Wednesday's win over Tottenham. Zola said: 'After everything I have done for Chelsea I don't think I deserve this.' `Danish international midfielder Bjarne Goldbaek has left Chelsea for First Division Fulham for $1 million.

    NAKATA FINALISES ROMA TRANSFER

Japanese playmaker Hidetoshi Nakata has completed his move from Perugia to Italian Serie A rivals Roma. The two clubs refused to disclose figures but the deal, which also sees Roma pair Dmitri Alenichev and Manuele Blasi move in the opposite direction, is believed to be worth $16 million. Nakata, 22, has been a big success in his short time in Italian football and is likely to play with Francesco Totti and Vincenzo Montella in a three-pronged strike force.

ROZENTAL SEEKS HELP OVER WORK PERMIT

Chile international Sebastian Rozental wants the Scottish Football Association to help him gain a work permit required for him to play for Glasgow Rangers. The 23-year-old striker, who cost four million pounds sterling ($6.58m), has spent the last two years recovering from a knee injury and no longer meets strict British work permit guidelines. 'I hope the Scottish FA will understand my position and help me,' said the former Universidad Catolica player who hopes to return for Rangers this month.
