BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) -- Former Manchester United star George Best issued a brutal assessment of David Beckham on Monday, listing an array of flaws he says keeps him from greatness.

"He cannot kick with his left foot. He cannot head a ball. He cannot tackle and he doesn't score many goals,' Best said. 'Apart from that, he's all right."

Best made the comments as he was being inducted into the International Football Hall of Champions Monday, hours before the election of FIFA's World Player of 1999. Beckham is seen as the main rival to Barcelona's Rivaldo.

Best was the star of the Manchester United team of the 1960s and was known for his dazzling dribbling skills and spectacular goals. He was the 1968 European soccer player of the year, the same season he led Manchester United to the European Cup.

Beckham was a key player in the Manchester United team that won the Premier League, FA Cup and European Champions' Cup last year.
