NOTE: The Confederation of Central American and Caribbean Football (CCCF) was the forerunner to CONCACAF (which now calls itself the Football Confederation), which was formed when it merged with the North American Football Confederation (NAFC) in 1963. The CCCF and NAFC staged various championship tournaments until CONCACAF conducted the first combined event. CONCACAF staged championships until 1971, after which the winner of the World Cup qualifying tournament was considered the continental champion. CONCACAF revived its championship under the name of the Gold Cup in 1991.
