KIEV, Ukraine (AP) -- Dynamo Kiev, pressing hard despite lacking some key players due to injury, handed Norway's Rosenborg BK a 2-1 defeat on Tuesday in the second phase of the UEFA Champions Cup Group C competition.

Dynamo got goals from Alexander Khatskevich and Serhii Rebrov, while Rosenborg's only goal came from Jahn Ivar Jacobsen, who has said he planned to make this his last match.

Dynamo began pressing right from the start and scored after nine minutes when Khatskevich completed a pass from Valiantsin Bialkevich with a powerful kick from far out.

Rosenborg responded by attempting to storm Dynamo's goal. In minute 27, midfielder Bent Skammelsrud managed a dangerous low kick that was saved by Oleksandr Shovkovsky.

Two minutes later, Ukrainian forward Rebrov, who has just recovered from injury, sent a spectacular diagonal swirling shot into Rosenborg's goal.

Rosenborg goalkeeper Arni Arason then saved his goal as Khatskevich made a penalty kick from about 20 meters, with Dynamo players failing to reach the ball in time to score.

Norwegian striker Jacobsen caught Dynamo by surprise in the 48th minute, precisely directing the ball in between a crowd of players into Shovkovsky's goal after a corner kick.

Jacobsen, a member of Rosenborg's board of directors member, has said he planned to retire after the match.

The game at Kiev's crowded Olympic stadium then turned faster but both teams missed numerous scoring opportunities as Rosenborg pressed to equalize and Dynamo launched its trademark quick counter-attacks.

"Rosenborg didn't offer us much new," Dynamo's head coach Valerii Lobanovskyi said after the game. "They did have an advantage over some period, but this is only normal ... Overall, it was a tense and interesting game."
