BUCHAREST (Reuters) -- Romanian international Gheorghe Hagi said on Monday he was considering joining a Major League Soccer club after the European championship finals.

Hagi, named Romanian soccer player of the century last December, plans to quit the international arena after Euro 2000.

"I will consider returning home [to play for a Romanian club] after the European finals, but I might go to United States," he said.

Chicago Fire and New Jersey-New Jersey MetroStars are understood to be interested in recruiting Hagi and Gheorghe Popescu, his Galatasaray Istanbul teammate.
