| Chelsea captured the Icelandic striker after the Blues boss Gianluca Vialli managed to beat off fierce competition from Sunderland in particular.A number of other clubs had been linked with the highly rated striker who netted 22 goals for Bolton during the 1999/2000 season but it was thought inevitable that Trotters boss Sam Allardyce would struggle to hold on to his prize asset.Ironically, his career didn't take off until he arrived at the Reebok Stadium during the 1998/99 season having played for three clubs in three years with a return of just 10 goals.But if he enjoys London as he did Lancashire the highly skilled front-runner looks poised for a successful career.Many of his goals during Bolton's narrow failure to gain promotion to the Premiership after falling to Ipswich in the play off semi final two-legged defeat were spectacular and that ability to achieve something from nothing should serve him well at Stamford Bridge. |
