| Many City fans felt that Prior was the icing on the cake when he was signed from Derby County for a bargain £400,000 on transfer deadline day March 2000.A big powerful no nonsense central defender Prior became an instant hit at Maine Road and was highly impressive in the final push for promotion to the Premiership.With just two goals in seven seasons while at Southend, Norwich, Leicester and Derby Prior netted twice for City in less than two months with headed goals from set pieces.Earlier in the 1999/2000 season he was involved in some controversy while playing for Derby County.The Rams had lost at home 1-0 to Bradford and the tall centre half described the Bantams as 'the worst Premiership side he had ever seen'.But he later apologised to the Yorkshire club and subsequently missed the return match at Valley Parade on Good Friday having already signed on at Maine Road.His main asset is his strength in the air although he is also very mobile for a man with such a big frame. |
