| When full back or central defender Venus joined Wolves in 1997 he came to Portman Road as part of a deal that took Steve Sedgley in the opposite direction.A naturally left-footed player he is best suited to the left-back berth although perfectly comfortable in a central defensive role Venus has quite rightly earned the tag of being a reliable rather than an over elaborate type of player.Having spent around a decade at Molineux, the former Wolves player is also respected as an ultra professional and held in high esteem by his fellow players.One ace in the pack from Venus is his fierce free kicks that make life hard for opposing keepers when he is anywhere near the 18-yard box.His powerfully-struck free kicks have led to a number of vital goals for Ipswich. |
