| Alf-Inge Haaland |
Man City Born: 11/23/72 Hometown: Stavanger, Norway |
| The Norwegian international defender or midfielder became Joe Royle's first signing in the summer of 2000.Being newly promoted the City boss was keen to add experience to his squad for the coming 2000/20001 Premiership campaign and acquired a player capable of playing either in the back four or in midfield.During Leeds United's 1999/2000 season the tall and often uncompromising utility player deputised as a central defender for both Jonathan Woodgate and Lucas Radebe.Although he was never a first team regular at Elland Road Haaland was recognised as a reliable deputy whose lithe build belied a deceptive toughness. Strong in the tackle he sometimes lacked creativity but is never short of willingness or commitment. |
