| Carl Cort |
Newcastle Born: 11/01/77 Hometown: Southwark |
| After suffering relegation with Wimbledon at the end of the 1999/2000 season the England Under-21 international was linked with a £6million move to Tottenham. But it was Bobby Robson who swooped to capture Cort, who had just completed his best ever season in terms of goals output by scoring 15 during Wimbledon's relegation campaign.Cort was a product of the highly successful Wimbledon youth policy. He has represented England Under-21s and scored five goals in seven games - including a double against Bulgaria. It is all a far cry from Sincil Bank where he spent a brief loan spell at lower division Lincoln City in 1997.For a very tall man he is known for his skill on the ground rather than his ability in the air and despite at times appearing ungainly he is very strong and extremely quick. |
