| Cunningham has developed into a top-class full-back and has become a regular starter in the Republic of Ireland side since he made his debut in April 1996 against the Czech Republic in Prague.Since moving from his native Dublin, Cunningham has spent his entire career to date in London. He started off with Millwall in 1989, making over 150 appearances, before moving on to Selhurst Park in 1994. He has been an unqualified success for the Dons, with his pace and tackling backed up by a natural instinct to get forward at every opportunity. He can also operate in the centre of defence and the Republic have used him several times in this role, where he can utilise his solid passing skills. |
