| One of the clubs most prized players Wright deservedly earned his first England cap in a pre-Euro 2000 friendly game in Malta that ended 2-1.But as he did in the 1999/2000 First Division Wembley play off final 4-2 win against Barnsley Wright both conceded and saved a penalty on his international debut.Following England Youth International and Under-21 honours a full cap was a culmination of more than five successful years at Portman Road that eventually led to the anticipated call up for Kevin Keegan's Euro 2000 squad.He went to the Netherlands as the third England keeper along with David Seaman and Nigel Martyn.But the locally-born goalkeeper was outstanding for his club in the 1999/2000-promotion season and not unexpectedly was constantly being linked with clubs at the summit of the Premiership.A very bright future is forecast for one of the country's top goalkeeping prospects. |
