| A career that began in East Anglia in unspectacular fashion with Norwich City, has witnessed a remarkable turn around in a very short space of time.Akinbiyi spent five-years with the Canaries that included loan spells at Hereford and Brighton, before a £1million move to Gillingham. And that was the start of what was to lead to a couple of lucrative moves.Within a season of being signed by Wolves from Bristol City for £3.5million Leicester captured Akinbiyi for £5million after he'd scored 16 goals in 37 league appearances for Colin Lee's side.A very big powerful man the London born striker has the frame of a boxer but the style of a top athlete.As you would expect he is strong in the air, but equally as effective on the ground with strong running a feature of his play.His first season in the Premiership in the 2000/2001 season saw the orthodox centre forward quickly come to terms with the top flight, and dispel any lingering doubts that he would find life difficult in a higher grade of football. |
