| Very committed and enthusiastic left-back with a powerful left foot. Before coming to Valley Parade, Jacobs' career had been fairly mundane. He was released by Hull City in 1993 when a knee injury looked to have finished his career. One year later at Rotherham the same injury flared up again and Bradford moved in to take the tigerish left-back on a free transfer.Jacobs has been a regular in the City rearguard in his five seasons with the club. His greatest attribute is arguably his judgement. He's able to beat faster players to the ball by being able to judge passes better. The Sheffield-born Jacobs was lucky to play for his favourite club, Sheffield Wednesday, but didn't blossom as a player until coming to Valley Parade. His dedication and never-say-die attitude was rewarded with promotion to the Premiership for the 1999/2000 campaign. The signing of Andy Myers from Chelsea, the following summer, looked to have cost Jacobs his left-back bearth but he came back stronger than ever in the Premiership, so much so that his so-called replacement was loaned out to Portsmouth. Season 2000/2001began with Jacobs suffering several injury niggles and despite signing a new three year contract during the summer his first team opportunities were lessening as time progressed. |
