| Signed from Blackburn Rovers midway through the 1999/2000 season Croft was almost shown the door from Portman Road before he'd even crossed the threshold.The one-time Grimsby Town defender was jailed for an accumulation of motoring offences that was a total shock to Town manager George Burley.But after serving around a three-month term in prison Croft was retained by the club and he returned to the first team to end his first season with the club on an eventual high.Another left-sided player the man who was once bought to replace England man Graeme Le Saux at Blackburn has an ability to cover the left-hand territory with terrific energy and a desire to attack down the flank. |
