| A full back with immense talent two years after costing £1million from Derby County Rowett gave Birmingham City a healthy profit by moving for three times that amount, as he became new manager Peter Taylor's first signing at Filbert Street in the summer 2000.Very much an orthodox right-back the one time Everton man is known for his consistency having played on a regular basis throughout his professional career although there was a minor blip at Derby during the 1998/99 season when he didn't make a league appearance.Generally though he has been a regular first team player and is known as a Mr Reliable with a bit more besides. He does attack with confidence and is a superb crosser of the ball but it is as a defender that Rowett is most notable.He reads a game well and makes timely tackles with a natural ability to be able to find playing colleagues with accurate passes.Extremely popular with the fans and he is known as one of the most underrated players in the game and one that should go on to achieve a great deal in the game. |
