Darren Dods
St Johnstone
Born: 6/07/75
Hometown: Edinburgh
The tall defender joined St Johnstone in July 1998 for a fee of £140,000. Darren began his career at Easter Road when he signed for Hibs in 1992, but felt it was time to move on when they were relegated at the end of the 1997-98 season. Never a flashy player, Darren nonetheless is very effective and in 1998/99 struck up a good relationship with Alan Kernaghan at the heart of the Saint's defence. The experienced defender has scored three times for the club - twice against Motherwell and once against Kilmarnock - and has proved to be a shrewd signing. Darren missed out on a large part of teh 1999-2000 season because of a shoulder injury that required operating on, but has since regained full fitness and enjoying his part in Saints progress.
