| This classy Moroccan midfielder arrived at Southampton as a virtual unknown in October 1998 but immediately established himself as a regular first-team member and a firm crowd favourite.Kachloul was originally signed on a short term contract from French club Metz after his agent had bought out his contract to ensure there would be no complications if the player found a Premiership club.Three goals in his first six league starts was evidence that the Saints had unearthed a bargain and his infectious enthusiasm and never-say-die attitude on the field endeared him to players and fans alike.A full Moroccan international, Kachloul will view success at club level as a means of establishing himself as a regular in the national side, and six goals in 24 appearances from midfield was a fair return for his first season in the top flight. A similar story the following season during 1999/2000 when Kachloul played 29 league games and notched five goals.A tremendously popular player who has enhanced his reputation in this country with some outstanding performances. |
