| Kevin Kilbane |
Sunderland Born: 2/01/77 Hometown: Preston |
| Kilbane started his career with Preston North End as a raw winger and his slight frame paid more than a passing resemblance to that of Chris Waddle. But as he grew in size and strength his development did not go unnoticed and West Brom decided to take a gamble on him with a £1 million bid.For the Baggies he instantly became a crowd favourite with his 100 per cent performances and some spectacular goals. His foraging down the left created many a chance for star striker Lee Hughes and Kilbane himself was regularly amongst the goalscorers at the Hawthorns.A full Republic of Ireland international it was inevitable that somebody would give him a Premiership chance. That somebody turned out to be Sunderland boss Peter Reid who signed Kilbane for a bargain £2.5 million in December 1999. He looks certain to be a very useful addition to Reid's squad at the Stadium of Light. |
