| The Brazilian international joined Corinthians as a professional in 1995, helping them to win the Brazilian Championship in 1998.He was also part of the side that won the Brazilian National Cup in 1995 and the Sao Paulo League in 1995, 1997 and 1999.Silvinho signed for the Gunners in June 1999 as a 25-year-old. His arrival appeared to signal the end of Nigel Winterburn's long Highbury career as Silvinho is a left-sided defender.Silvinho's introduction into the Arsenal set-up was the first sign that the famous Gunners back four of the 1990's that had been so water-tight and successful was about to be broken up. |
