| Sherwood is a midfield powerhouse who moved to Spurs in a surprise deal in early 1999. He made nearly 250 appearances for Blackburn Rovers and was an integral cog in their Championship winning side. He joined the Ewood Park outfit from Norwich in 1992.As Blackburn captain, Sherwood led by example, producing many tireless performances. He is a good passer of the ball, but his main attributes are energy, self-belief and total commitment.His move to Spurs coincided with an upturn in his own form as well as a downturn in Blackburn's, ultimately leading to their relegation. He also won an England call-up in 1999, playing on the left-side of midfield. His introduction was a surprise to many but he remains one of the country's best left-sided midfielders. |
