| Arthur Numan |
Rangers Born: 12/14/69 Hometown: Heemskerk, Holland |
| Arthur certainly has Rangers manager Dick Advocaat to thank for his progress, given that he has played for him at three different clubs. In 1988 Numan joined Haarlem, where has was persuaded by Advocaat to move from left-wing to full-back. After a spell at FC Twente, Numan was reunited with his mentor at PSV Eindhoven, where he stayed for six years. In that time, he won the Dutch League and Cup double in 1996. In 1998 Numan left PSV for Rangers in a £4.5 million deal and arrived at Ibrox just two weeks after playing for the Dutch in the semi-finals of the World Cup. His Ibrox career got off to the worst possible start after he chipped an ankle bone, but he made a full recovery and enjoyed a productive season as a first-team regular throughout season 1999-2000. |
