| Danny Granville |
Man City Born: 1/19/75 Hometown: Islington |
| A tall man for a full back the former Cambridge United defender or midfielder is recognised as a left-sided player.Granville initially began life in the lower reaches with Cambridge and four successful seasons at the Abbey Stadium led him to a deserved move to Chelsea. At Stamford Bridge it wasn't easy playing understudy to England international left-back Graeme Le Saux although there were some European exploits for the talented defender having played against Slovan Bratislava in the European Cup Winners Cup just 12 months after playing second division football. He won his first major medal playing in the above competition's final for Chelsea against VFB Stuttgart after an injury to Le Saux made way for Granville. An eventual big money move to Leeds didn't quite work out at Elland Road with injuries curtailing his appearances for the West Yorkshire club.City boss Joe Royle decided to add the valuable overlapping skills of Granville to his squad during the promotion season of 1999/2000 although once again injuries limited his first team appearances. |
