Hearts Born: 8/22/63 Hometown: Hyeres |
| This popular goalkeeper, capped twice by France, has been one of the foundation stones in the rebuilding of Hearts under Jim Jefferies.Brought to Tynecastle under the Bosman ruling in 1995, the 6'5" former Lyon, Marseille and Sochaux goalkeeper has been a key figure in the club's revival. His first game was a 2-0 defeat by Falkirk which left Hearts bottom of the Premier League in the autumn of 1995 but, by the end of that season, he had helped Hearts into the Scottish Cup final for the first time in 10 years with his consistent play.Unfortunately, his error for the second Rangers' goal led to Hearts' collapse and they lost the final 5-1.But two years later, Rousset and Hearts were back and this time the Frenchman won the 'Man of the Match' award as he kept Rangers out in the closing stages to secure the 2-1 victory. Signed a new one-year deal at Hearts towards the end of last season after rejecting an offer to return to France. Now playing second fiddle to Antti Niemi, his duties at the club now also encompass coaching. |
