| Lionel Charbonnier |
Rangers Born: 10/25/66 Hometown: Poitiers |
| The World Cup winning 'keeper arrived at Ibrox in the summer of 1998. Signed from Auxerre for £1.2m, he got his first taste of Scottish football in Rangers' 2-1 victory over Motherwell in August 1998. After successfully marshalling the Rangers' goal at the beginning of the season, Charbonnier damaged the ligaments in his left knee in a UEFA Cup tie against Bayer Leverkusen at Ibrox in November 1998. The injury not only required surgery, but ruled him out for the remainder of the season. The French keeper, who went to Les Beaux Arts - one of France's top art schools – is ready to return to the first-team and is desperate to depose Klos as first choice keeper. |
