| Jamie Redknapp has long been seen as a likely future lynchpin of the England set-up, and but for injury may have already taken that position.He came into the England side during Euro '96 and was widely credited with being the difference between the listless side of the first game and the unlucky semi-final penalty shoot-out losers.He has a wide range of passing skills and the ability to shoot from distance, evidenced with a wonder strike at Blackburn last April.Redknapp suffered a lengthy lay-off through injury in 1999-2000 which raised a few doubts about his longer term England prospects.Injury struck once more the season after with Redknapp struggling to reach full fitness in the first three months of the 2000/2001 season. |
