| Paul Gerrard |
Everton Born: 1/22/73 Hometown: Heywood |
| Having been brought to Everton by Joe Royle during his spell in charge at the club, Gerrard had virtually been a spectator for much of his time at Goodison Park - but that was to change in the 1999/2000 season when injuries finally gave him his chance.Due to the form of Norwegian Thomas Myhre in 1998/99 and having paid £3.3million to Tranmere for young keeper Steven Simonsen, Gerrard found himself the club's third-choice keeper. And having made only nine appearancess before being loaned out to Oxford during the 1998/99 season, it appeared that his chances of first-team football lay elsewhere. But some excellent performances at the end of the millennium ensured that he became firmly established at Goodison. |
