Ricky Gillies
St Mirren
Born: 8/24/76
Hometown: Glasgow
Left St Mirren in August 1997 to join Aberdeen after earning a reputation as a young striker with a big future. He was linked with several major clubs and had trials with Newcastle and Liverpool, but former Dons boss Roy Aitken persuaded him to move to Aberdeen instead. His time at Pittodrie proved to be a nightmare for the Scotland under-21 star, and Gillies jumped at the chance to rejoin St Mirren as they clinched promotion to the Premier League.Having rescued his faltering career, Buddies boss Tom Hendrie will now be hoping that the prodigal son's return to Love Street will also mark a return to his old form.
