Marcus Gayle
Wimbledon
Born: 9/27/70
Hometown: Hammersmith, England
Gayle capped a fine year by appearing for Jamaica in France '98, alongside his club skipper Robbie Earle, against Japan. He carried that form into the 1998/99 season, scoring 11 times in all competitions. He has proved an outstanding buy for the Dons, since his move from Brentford in 1994. Gayle possesses a fine left foot and is good in the air, as well as being tricky on the ground.Gayle has the added advantage of being able to operate wide on the left flank, which given the competition up front could be invaluable to his chances of staying in the starting eleven. The Dons also have Euell, Cort and record-buy John Hartson, and so should not struggle to score goals in the coming season.
