| Alan Main |
St Johnstone Born: 12/05/67 Hometown: Elgin |
| Saint's first-choice goalkeeper was signed in January 1995 after an unhappy season at Tannadice under the then manager, Ivan Golac. The B International made his St Johnstone debut against Airdrie at Broadwood on the 7th January 1995, and has since proved himself to be one of the club's greatest ever 'keepers. Alan booked himself into the record books when he kept a clean sheet for eight consecutive league matches in the 1996/97 season, which was a club record, before going on to make his 100th appearance for the club against St.Mirren on the 3rd of May 1997. Alan frequently clears the ball from well outside his box, and such is his influence that he was awarded the captaincy of the club when Jim Weir was out of action. He ended any speculation about his future when he signed an extension to his contract that keeps him at the club until 2003. |
