| Alan Maybury agreed terms with Leeds in the summer of 1995 following a successful trial after being spotted playing for St Kevin's Boys Club in Ireland.He made his debut aged 17 at right-back at the end of January 1996, but ironically he suffered a shin splint injury at the same time as his rival for the right-back position Gary Kelly, leaving him unable to gain a regular place in the first team together with a host of new youngsters given their chance by David O'Leary.He returned to fitness in January 1999, but failed to show his real talent.A successful loan spell at Reading in the 1998-99 campaign earned Maybury a recall to the full Republic of Ireland ranks, but he still struggled to break into the Leeds first team. |
