| Robert Douglas |
Celtic Born: 4/24/72 Hometown: Lanark |
| The goalkeeper began his senior career with Livingston and moved to Dundee for £100,000 in August 1997. He was given the role of understudy to Billy Thomson before becoming first choice at Dens Park. In Dundee's promotion- winning season of 1997-98, Douglas's form earned him a call-up to Scotland's 'B' squad, and he made his debut at that level as a substitute against Wales. The step up to the Premier League saw him become one of Scotland's most highly-rated young keepers. This feeling was cemented by a mid-season bid by Rangers to sign him, but Douglas instead signed a two-year extension to his contract, and was soon drafted into the full Scotland squad. |
