Dean Saunders
Bradford
Born: 6/21/64
Hometown: Swansea
Even after 17 years in the game Dean Saunders is still representing his country. The Welsh international striker joined Bradford City from Benfica on a free transfer in August 1999.Saunders has played for Swansea, Brighton, Oxford United, Derby County, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Galatasaray in Turkey, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United before his move to Portugal.Amazingly, he was once given a free transfer by John Bond when at Swansea City.Six years on he cost Derby County £1million with further big money moves to Aston Villa and Liverpool totalling almost £5million.With over 70 international caps the pacy, hard-working forward remains extremely fit and enthusiastic. He's not only highly regarded as a skilful striker but a bubbly character who is very well liked and respected by his team mates and fans alike. With over 200 goals for club and country the Welshman has always possessed an awareness around the penalty area. When Jim Jefferies took over as manager at Valley Parade on November 20, one of his first decision's was to sanction a move by Dundee United to take the Welsh international on loan. But Saunders declined the move stating that he didn't want to uproot his family.
