| Goater ended the promotion season of 1999/2000 as the club's leading scorer with 23 league goals.Goater is a type of striker who is often better appreciated by his team-mates than supporters although he finally won over those City fans that were initially critical.During the 1999/2000 campaign Goater was involved in a club versus country argument making it known to Bermuda that he did not want to miss City matches in favour of his international duties.Eventually an agreement was reached with the blessing of the Bermudan coach Ian Porterfield and the six-foot plus striker played a large part in helping Joe Royle's men to automatic promotion. The languid style of the consistent scorer is often mistaken for casualness, but a player with enormous strength and not short on pace he is the kind of player that takes the weight off fellow forwards. |
