Paddy Connolly
St Johnstone
Born: 6/25/70
Hometown: Glasgow
The striker began his career at Tannadice before moving to Airdrie where he made 63 League appearances and scored 17 goals for the Diamonds before moving to Perth in a £250,000 deal in March 1998. He scored his first goal for the Saints against Stranraer in the League Cup in August 1998, but has so far been unable to fulfil his undoubted potential at McDiarmid Park because of a series of injuries. He picked up his first serious injury just days after he signed for the club in a clash against Rangers which ruled him out for the remainder of the season, and he was also unfortunate enough to miss the majority of the 1998-99 season through injury. Since then he has struggled to retain a first-team place, and even spent a short time on loan at Morton last season where he managed three goals in three outings. The loan move was never permanent, but if he cannot secure regular football this season, the chances are he may want to further his career somewhere else.
