| Hartson faces a testing season after failing to live up to the record fee paid by Joe Kinnear back in January 1999.The Welshman is no stranger to big fees, having moved from Luton to Arsenal for £2.5m as a teenager. After battling to gain a regular first team spot at Highbury, he moved on to West Ham in February 1997, and his prolific partnership with Paul Kitson steered the Hammers away from relegation trouble. The following season he notched up 24 goals at the Upton Park club, but struggled to maintain that form in the 1998/99 season and Harry Redknapp was only too pleased when the Dons turned up with an open chequebook.He scored only twice in 14 games for the Dons, but if he can recover full fitness, he can be one of Britain's top strikers. |
