Fredrik Ljungberg
Arsenal
Born: 4/16/77
Hometown: Halmstads,Sweden
The Swedish attacking midfielder made a great impression when he starred for his home country in their Euro 2000 qualifying victory against England. He was originally bought to replace the retired David Platt as he can play on either flank or in a forward position. The fee of £3m was originally thought to be a bargain as Arsene Wenger had to beat off competition from several Premiership rivals. However Ljungberg never managed to force his way into the Arsenal side in 1998/99 only managing to establish himself as a bit-part squad member. His only goal of the season came in the 3-0 win over Manchester United in September 1998, but he is a quality player with sound technical ability and good vision who has time on his side.In the 1999/2000 season the Swede really came into his own, scoring a number of crucial goals.
