| When Campbell first burst into the Arsenal side he was widely tipped as being likely to go onto great things. However, the promise was never really fulfilled.Unable to claim a regular spot in the Gunners attack, he spent three mixed seasons at Nottingham Forest before heading into a Turkish nightmare with Trabzonspor.After the club's president scandalously called Campbell a "discoloured cannibal", the Lambeth-born striker decided enough was enough.An incredibly successful loan spell at Goodison, when his goals effectively kept the previously goal-shy Everton up in 1998/99, showed everyone how much talent he has.After protracted negotiations throughout the 1999 close season, Campbell eventually signed for Everton in time for the start of the 1999/2000 season. |
