| A striker who has courted controversy in his time, Ferguson arrived on Tyneside in November 1998.He has had a cult following with all his clubs. One of the best headers of the ball in the game, he is a tall, aggressive player who is surprisingly good on the ground. He skippered Everton before departing for Tyneside.Ferguson had an explosive start to his Newcastle career, scoring twice on his debut.He was injured four games later and missed much of the 1998-99 season.He came on as a second -half substitute during the 1999 FA Cup final defeat against Manchester United, acquitting himself well after four months out.Less than two years after leaving Everton the tall, popular centre forward was back on Merseyside and the way he was treated by fans, it was as though he'd never been away. |
