| Paul Kitson |
West Ham Born: 1/09/71 Hometown: Murton |
| Highly regarded by his fellow professionals, Paul is a quick and alert striker who has the knack of being able to lose his marker and can be relied on to finish. He played with distinction at Leicester and Derby before moving to Newcastle, where he never really settled, and in February 1997 happily signed for West Ham. The London club were in serious danger of relegation at the time but were promptly rewarded as Paul helped turn round their season with eight goals. He ended the season as the club's leading scorer. Plagued by persistent groin and foot problems Kitson was on the long term injury list and in the 1998/1999 season managed only 13 games. There were two loan spells during the following season at both Crystal Palace and Charlton, that meant just four Premiership outings with the Hammers, and in truth his time with West Ham looks to be coming to a close. |
