| Stephen Woods |
Motherwell Born: 2/23/70 Hometown: Glasgow |
| As a youngster Woods had his pick of several top sides but signed for Hibernian from crack Under-21 side Kilpatrick Juveniles in 1989. The determining factor in his move to Easter Road was the influence of learning under Andy Goram, but not suprisingly his experiences of first-team football were spent sitting in the stand watching the Scottish International goalkeeper in action. Sold for a nominal fee in 1991, Woods finally got the chance to establish himself at Clydebank, and then spent a season at Preston North End where his form was noticed by Alex McLeish, and he signed for Motherwell in 1994. While at Fir Park, Woods has also had to compete for his place, most notably with Scott Howie and Miko Kaven, and now he has been forced to play secod fiddle to Goram again after his arrival with the Steelmen. |
