| Mixu Paatelainen, who has won over 60 international caps for Finland, is in his eleventh season in Scottish football. Originally signed by Dundee United from Valkeakosken Haka in 1987, the powerfully-built striker made an immediate impact with his direct approach.He scored nine goals in his first season in the Premier League and continued to score regularly for Dundee United - he once scored all four goals in a 4-0 win over Greenock Morton at Cappielow - until he was signed by Aberdeen in a £400,000 deal in the 1991-92 season.He made no less an impact at Pittodrie and, the following season, notched 16 goals - his best in Scotland.Paatelainen's goals took him south where he spent three seasons at Bolton before moving to Wolves.But he failed to secure a regular place at Molineux and Alex McLeish, who played alongside the striker at Aberdeen, brought him to Easter Road in September, 1998.His aerial ability made him a firm favourite with Hibs fans as the Edinburgh side waltzed to the first division title in 1998/99. |
